Business Controller (Financial Analyst)

What will your main responsibilities be?
- Pro‑actively examine sites’ (financial) performance related and ensure relevant management information to support decision making and performance management;
- Make optimal use and fully utilize available IT tools;
- Prepare and challenge business cases to support investment decisions, whilst ensuring compliance with Yara’s capital value process;
- Responsible for month‑end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial accounting and reporting according to IFRS;
- Pro‑actively support and drive improvements in close cooperation with the Business Support Manager.
Who are you?
- You are a motivated team player with good analytical and communicative skills.
- You have the ability to follow up on multiple projects at the same time and to communicate about progress to different stakeholders within and outside the organization.
- You are able to support the business with a positive but critical attitude and you provide support with the financial figures.
- You have a genuine interest in the sites’ operations and industry major challenges (e.g. carbon footprint, hydrogen economy, Dutch Climate regulation).
- Bachelor or Master degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Controlling or comparable education;
- Experience in an industrial/production environment is an advantage;
- High proficiency of Microsoft Excel and affinity with IT tools. Experience with SAP and Power BI is an advantage;
- Fluent in Dutch, good in English.

Bij Yara bestaat het sollicitatieproces meestal uit de volgende stappen: Online sollicitatie via hun carrièresite of een vacatureplatform. Screening door HR (check op motivatie en cv). Eerste interview – vaak via video of telefonisch. Tweede interview – met leidinggevende of team. Soms een assessment of casusopdracht. Aanbodfase – inclusief uitleg over arbeidsvoorwaarden.
Een starter werkt vaak in multidisciplinaire teams aan projecten of operationele processen. Denk aan: Dagelijkse afstemming met collega's (bijvoorbeeld via een stand-up). Projectwerk of analyses. Opleidingen en trainingen. Tussentijdse feedbackmomenten. De week is vaak een mix van eigen verantwoordelijkheid en begeleiding vanuit een mentor of buddy.
Yara heeft een sterke focus op talentontwikkeling: Er zijn traineeships of juniorprogramma's in diverse landen. Starters kunnen binnen 2 à 3 jaar doorgroeien naar een mediorfunctie. Interne mobiliteit wordt gestimuleerd (bijvoorbeeld overstap naar een ander team of land). Leiderschapstrajecten of specialistische verdiepingen zijn beschikbaar.
Yara biedt vaak een persoonlijk ontwikkelplan. Er zijn zowel interne als externe opleidingen en trainingen, zoals soft skills, veiligheid of duurzaamheid. Via e-learningplatformen kun je je eigen leerpad volgen. Je wordt gecoacht door ervaren collega's of een mentor.
Hoewel exacte bedragen kunnen variëren, liggen de startsalarissen bij Yara meestal in lijn met de chemische industrie: Startsalaris: tussen de €2.800–€3.400 bruto per maand (hbo/wo-niveau). Inclusief: 13e maand, reiskostenvergoeding en pensioenregeling. Salarisgroei is gekoppeld aan prestatie, CAO-afspraken en functieontwikkeling.
Er is aandacht voor hybride werken (afhankelijk van functie). Yara biedt vaak flexibele werktijden. Initiatieven rond welzijn, zoals sportprogramma's, mentale gezondheid en werkdrukbegeleiding, worden ondersteund.
Ja, Yara is actief in meer dan 60 landen. Er zijn internationale traineeships of opdrachten in het buitenland mogelijk. Ook later in je carrière zijn er expat-rollen of internationale projecten beschikbaar.
