As a Senior Python Developer, you contribute to the further development of the Flex Toolkit: an innovative application that optimises grid capacity through smart calculations and flexible contract options. Your work directly improves insight and decision-making which helps prevent congestion across the grid.
A day as a Senior Python Developer:
- You start your day at the office at the Blaak with the daily stand‑up, where you and your teammates align on priorities and support each other where needed.
- You develop and improve the Flex Toolkit and work on integrations with systems such as PowerFactory, Setiam and SAP.
- Then you realize it's already time for lunch. For this, you can head to the iconic Markthal or into the city with the rest of the team. If you prefer to stay inside, you can visit our company restaurant on the 18th floor with a beautiful view of Rotterdam.
- After the lunch you it's time to head back to work! During the sprint planning and refinements you actively share your perspective on feasibility, technical choices and priorities. You collaborate closely with other DevOps teams, translating business needs into clear, future‑proof technical solutions.
- At the end of the day, you align with the Epic Owner on next steps. It was a producttive day at the office and with a sense of satisfaction, you shut down your laptop and head home easily from the Blaak station. Tomorrow you will be working from home.

All financial employment conditions at a glance, so you know exactly where you stand:
- A gross monthly salary of up to € 7,124 (based on 40 hours and knowledge and experience), 24.5 vacation days, and pension accrual with ABP, for which we pay 70% of the premium.
- On top of your salary, you receive a personal budget of 24% (including 8% holiday allowance). You choose what to do with the budget: for example, extra salary or (up to a maximum of 35.5) leave days. You can see how it works in our calculation tool.

You will join the Agile Release Train Forecasting & SO team, consisting of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Business Analyst and three Developers. You will work in an international team where Dutch and English will be spoken. This team values collaboration, openness and psychological safety, and there is plenty of room to influence how things are done. You will work from our office at Blaak in Rotterdam and closely collaborate with both IT and business colleagues.

- Higher professional (HBO) level of working and thinking, preferably in Computer Science or a related field and at least 4 years of experience with Python application development, including frameworks such as Dash, Streamlit or Taipy.
- Experience with front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Vue.js or Angular, or the motivation to develop yourself further in this area.
- You speak Dutch or English and you already live in the Netherlands. We are also open for candidates who are not speaking fluently Dutch but are willing to learn. An important condition is that you are willing to travel at least 50% of your time to the office in Rotterdam.

Zodra je solliciteert, krijg je meestal binnen enkele werkdagen een bevestiging. Als je profiel past bij de vacature, volgt vaak een telefonisch kennismakingsgesprek met een recruiter. Daarna word je uitgenodigd voor een gesprek op locatie of online. Bij technische functies is het gebruikelijk dat je ook een meeloopdag of praktijkopdracht krijgt. Soms is er een assessment. Binnen twee weken na je sollicitatie hoor je meestal of je verder mag in het proces.
Als monteur of technicus start je je werkdag vaak vroeg, rond 07:30. Je vertrekt vanaf huis of een Stedin-locatie naar je eerste klus. Denk aan het aanleggen of onderhouden van elektriciteits- of gasnetten, het oplossen van storingen of het uitvoeren van veiligheidscontroles. Je werkt vrijwel altijd in een team van 2 tot 4 collega's en hebt regelmatig contact met je uitvoerder of werkverantwoordelijke. Geen dag is hetzelfde: je werkt buiten, met techniek én met klanten.
Als starter krijg je een vaste begeleider of praktijkopleider toegewezen. De eerste weken staan in het teken van veiligheidstrainingen, introductie en meekijken met ervaren collega's. Je krijgt ruim de tijd om te wennen aan het werk en vragen te stellen. Leren door te doen is bij Stedin de standaard, en fouten maken hoort erbij — zolang je er maar van leert.
Als mbo-starter in de techniek begin je meestal met een salaris tussen de €2.400 en €2.800 bruto per maand, afhankelijk van je opleiding en ervaring. Werk je in ploegendienst of storingsdienst, dan krijg je extra toeslagen. Ook zijn er goede doorgroeimogelijkheden: met ervaring, certificaten of specialisaties kan je salaris snel oplopen.
Stedin heeft meerdere locaties verspreid over Nederland. Veel monteurs werken in hun eigen regio. Reiskosten worden vergoed en als je geen eigen vervoer hebt, is een bedrijfsbusje of OV-vergoeding vaak mogelijk. De grotere locaties zijn goed bereikbaar met de auto en het openbaar vervoer en er is parkeergelegenheid.
De sfeer bij Stedin is nuchter, collegiaal en open. Je werkt in vaste teams waar duidelijke communicatie belangrijk is. Leidinggevenden zijn meestal goed benaderbaar en geven eerlijke feedback. Er is ruimte voor eigen inbreng en je wordt serieus genomen, ook als starter.
Meestal begin je met een jaarcontract. Bij goed functioneren krijg je daarna een vast dienstverband. Stedin biedt uitstekende secundaire arbeidsvoorwaarden zoals een opleidingsbudget, pensioenregeling, collectieve verzekeringen en soms ook een bonus. Gereedschap, kleding en PBM's worden uiteraard verzorgd.
De standaard werktijden zijn van 07:30 tot 16:00. Bij sommige functies werk je in storingsdiensten of in ploegendiensten, waarvoor je toeslagen ontvangt. Overwerk komt voor, maar je krijgt dit altijd betaald of in tijd gecompenseerd. Vrij vragen is goed mogelijk, zolang je het op tijd overlegt met je leidinggevende.
