Electrical Engineering Internship: AI-Based Test Hardware Design

Join ASML’s Hardware Development team in Veldhoven and help shape the future of semiconductor technology. Our team designs and validates electronic boards that power cutting‑edge lithography systems. For this internship, you will explore how artificial intelligence can automate hardware design processes. Your work will contribute to reducing development effort and accelerating innovation.

Your assignment

• Analyze test requirements for electronic boards.
• Research AI methods for hardware design automation.
• Train and validate AI models when necessary.
• Design a Test Interface Card as a proof of concept.
• Integrate interfaces between the device under test and test equipment.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers throughout design phases.
• Document findings and propose improvements for future automation.

Your profile

• Are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Have interest in artificial intelligence and electronic board design.
• Are proactive, analytical, and comfortable working independently and hands‑on.
• Communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
• Preferably have knowledge of interfaces such as RS485, SPI, I²C, EtherCAT, DACs, ADCs, and power supply units.

This is a bachelor or master thesis internship for minimum 4 months, 5 days per week (5 days on‑site). The start date of this internship is February 2025.
