Computer Science internship: improving analysis tools and dashboards

Introduction

Overlay performance is a key aspect of ASML’s lithography systems, ensuring that different layers printed on a wafer are properly aligned. Within the System Performance Overlay group, we analyze measurement data to assess alignment accuracy and support performance improvements across our systems. To support this mission, we develop internal tools that process large volumes of measurement data and extract meaningful performance metrics. These tools are essential for engineers to evaluate system behavior, identify trends across machine populations, and drive improvements.

Your Assignment

• Familiarize yourself with overlay data and performance metrics;
• Improve the quality and maintainability of existing overlay analysis tooling;
• Refactor and modularize legacy code to enhance readability and reusability;
• Design and develop effective dashboards that turn complex data into actionable insights;
• Collaborate with engineers to identify key metrics and ensure dashboard usability;

Your Profile

• Are a bachelor's or master's student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, or a related field;
• Have efficient coding skills in MATLAB;
• Preferably have some experience with code refactoring, test frameworks, or Object‑Oriented Programming;
• Are familiar with data visualization tools or dashboard development (e.g., in Power BI, Python Dash, or similar);
• Are analytical, proactive, and eager to learn about semiconductor performance metrics;
• Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Other requirements you need to meet

• You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
• You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship (relocation possible if currently outside the Netherlands);
• If you are a non‑EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the necessary documents (e.g., Nuffic agreement);
• This position requires access to controlled technology as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology prior to beginning work.
