Supplier Quality Engineer
Do you have a curious mindset? Do you always think of (and look for) the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind problems? And are you looking for a challenging next step in your career? Then we would like to get in touch with you!
What you’ll do
As a Supplier Quality Engineer within Canon Production Printing you are responsible for managing our suppliers in the Mechanics and electronics field, in order to guarantee supplied parts meet the set quality requirements. You assess their quality processes and together with the supplier you ensure that these processes match our production process.
With your vision and result-oriented attitude you inspire and convince internal stakeholders and external suppliers and you translate bottlenecks into (improvement) projects. You lead, participate in and/or assess problem analysis, containment and prevention, both internally and externally. You have a guiding role, you guide the supplier in his preventive measures and you come up with innovative improvement proposals. You also perform analysis and audits at process level.
Together with a team consisting of colleagues from product development (R&D), supply chain management and procurement, you ensure that the parts are delivered according to the agreements made. Close cooperation with suppliers allows you to build a strong relationship with the aim of jointly taking quality assurance to a higher level.
Who you’ll work with
Manufacturing is responsible for the production and timely delivery of ‘best in class’ high mix low volume CPP products within the Canon organization. Challenges within the Manufacturing organization lie in strengthening the Lean philosophy, arriving at the most suitable industrialization method for both products and processes, the continuous improvement of existing processes and the development of a ‘world class’ supplier base and value chains. The Quality Assurance department (locally 20 and worldwide 40 professionals) plays a crucial role in this by guaranteeing the quality of the parts and production processes both internally and at our suppliers. You will be one of 8 Supplier Quality engineers.
Besides the Quality department you will work in close contact with colleagues from other departments, for example Procurement, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering and R&D
What you bring
Experience in a similar role would be great, but we are focusing on personality. We are looking for someone with a constructive-critical attitude who isn’t afraid of forming his/her own (substantiated) opinion. You are always looking for the cause of problems and have an analytical, problem-solving mindset. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following requirements:
- Bachelor degree in the field of electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering
- Approximately 5-10 years of experience in a technical environment (doesn’t have to be in a Quality related role)
- When you do have experience in a similar role we would like you to have experience with different quality methods (like 8D, FMEA, SPC, MSA, APCP, PPAP), and experience in auditing is a plus
- You are open to occasional travelling to our suppliers, mainly within Europe
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
What you’ll get from us
We offer an exciting, dynamic work environment in an international, high-tech organization. You’ll have plenty of opportunities for personal and professional development. Besides, we offer the following conditions:
- A competitive salary (range €3.760 - €5.380 gross per month)
- 38 vacation days
- Extra 13th month pay (8,6%), holiday allowance (8%) and commuting allowance
- Hybrid working for a healthy work-life balance
- A huge range of training and professional development opportunities
- A laptop and smartphone
- An interesting lease (e-) bike plan
Career opportunities
From the position of Supplier Quality Engineer you have a lot of career-opportunities. These can be within the Quality department (for example towards a Senior Quality Engineer position, where you will focus more on the end product) or towards a teamlead position. But also outside of the department towards other positions, for example to other Engineering positions within our organization.
