At ABN AMRO, we’re seeking an IT Engineer with System Architect role to join our Data Devils team, where we manage high-volume data streams, enabling seamless batch and streaming data integration. Your job

The Data Devils team processes millions of records daily, ensuring seamless data integration for real-time, batch, and streaming processes. Using Apache Kafka as a core streaming platform and integrating Azure cloud technologies, we provide secure and reliable data transfer, empowering critical business applications.

Your key responsibilities

• Architecture and Design: Analyze the current application landscape and develop high-performance solutions designs for data integration challenges.
• Cloud Expertise: Design and implement data solutions leveraging Azure cloud technologies.
• Streaming Innovation: Develop real-time and batch data flow strategies using Apache Kafka as the streaming platform.
• Collaboration: Partner with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure all architectural designs meet banking standards and policies.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance to technical teams on best practices and emerging trends.

Your profile

As an IT Engineer with a strong focus on Kafka, you’ll develop and maintain data streaming solutions to support complex application landscapes. Your expertise will enable seamless integration of real-time data channels, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with banking standards.

Hard skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in solution design & architecture, with a strong ability to design and implement complex technical solutions.
• 5+ years of experience working with Apache Kafka as a streaming platform, including Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, and Kafka ecosystem tools.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with the Azure cloud platforms and technologies, with a solid understanding of their integration capabilities.
• Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and microservices-based design patterns.

Soft Skills

• English proficiency
• Excellent communicator, being able to convince people.
• Have a proactive and open attitude, is flexible and likes challenges.
• Willingness to collaborate and learn with the team. Also participate in Triangles and circles in the bank
• An automation mindset with the ability to design solutions that streamline repetitive task to improve operations efficiency.

Nice-to-Have

• Proficiency in developing custom Kafka connectors or stream processing applications using Java or related frameworks (e.g., Spring Kafka).
• Experience with Linux environments.
• Exposure to DevOps and Agile methodologies.
• Understanding of schema management tools like Confluent Schema Registry or Avro.

We are offering

The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget.

The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary. The Benefit Budget allows you to acquire additional employment benefits.

If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month.

Five weeks of vacation per year. You have the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year.
