About the Unilever Oss factory
The Unilever Oss factory is locally known as Unox and plays an important role in the Oss community. Famous brands manufactured in Oss are Unox, Zwan, Bertolli and Chicken Tonight. The site is one of the largest sites within the Unilever Savoury Category (soups, sauces and meat) and covers multiple technologies (soups, sauces and meat products). Around 50% of the production is international (within Europe). The factory has around 336 permanent employees, during peak season the factory population can reach 450.
Manufacturing is managed by a flexible shift regime. The factory is an active participant in the Unilever World Class Manufacturing programme driving safety, quality, cost reduction, professional maintenance and asset care at the highest possible performance level. The site team plays a key role in European innovation and cost reduction programmes.
Business context and scope of the role
The Technical Manager is responsible for the preventive maintenance, operational engineering and technical support for the soup, sauce and meat factory. He/she develops, implements and manages professional maintenance, supports cost savings initiatives and is responsible for Capex projects and the introduction of new technology.
The candidate also leads the innovation teams. The innovation teams are responsible for seamless implementation of new ingredients, packaging, products and technologies into the factories. Projects are managed in co-operation with Marketing and R&D.
The position reports to the Works Director and is a member of the overall Factory Management Team.
The candidate is responsible for managing an annual maintenance budget of 3 million € and a team of circa. 50 technical resources (plus 3rd party contractors):
• Site facilities and utilities
• Maintenance Planners in Line Teams (werkvoorbereiders).
• Line Engineering Teams (dagdienst monteurs).
• Line Support Teams (storingsmonteurs).
• Preventive Maintenance Teams (control, module replacement, revisions).
• Technical Warehouse and Workshop.
• Project, Product and Process Innovation and Improvement Teams .
• Leading the World Class Manufacturing initiatives to drive performance for loss management.
• Experience with managing professional maintenance in FMCG, pharmaceutical or process industry.
• Proven track record of transforming into and driving a high performance culture.
• Develops the technical strategy for the site.
• Coaches and develops his/her team.
• Manages internal and external stake holders.
• Track record of successful project delivery (capex and savings programmes.)
• A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in engineering or related technical field of study.
• The candidate needs to speak Dutch.
