Background information
The Procurement Assistant Manager will be responsible to manage part of the Functional Ingredients procurement portfolio on a global basis, to deliver the business targets and objectives of this portfolio and to support the Global Procurement Manager on strategic and team tasks. Next to this, this role will be a fully integrated business partner to the procurement teams in the Regions as well as to R&D teams and various Category teams.

We are currently recruiting a Procurement Assistant Manager Functional Ingredients*.
*) Functional Ingredients consist of: Vitamins, Sterol-esters, Fish Oil, Preservatives, Anti-Oxydants, Natural Colorants, High Intensity Sweeteners, Salt and Condiments.
Jobholder will manage a procurement portfolio with a high degree of complexity both in terms of ingredients, specifications, applications and countries.
The role will require a candidate with skills in sourcing strategy development and implementation, supplier selection and supplier development. Close collaboration with teams in R&D and Regional Procurement teams is needed. The job will require very good negotiation skills. Supply chain issues will need to be managed from time to time and this will require good skills in crises and issue management.
Good project management skills are needed and job holder will need to be business minded in identifying and implementing supplier value into the Unilever business.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
• Execution of Procurement tasks including negotiations for the allocated material portfolios
• Accountable for the delivery of cost and cash targets for the allocated materials
• Accountable for the delivery of sustainability and complexity reduction targets via regional and category procurement network
• Support Global Procurement manager in building the portfolio strategies
• Build up strong collaboration with regional procurement teams (EU, N-Am, LatAm, Asia and Africa) to implement sourcing strategies and projects in order to deliver the agreed targets
• Support Global Procurement manager in maintaining and strengthening key supplier relationships
• Follow market conditions, price trends and prepare regular market reports
• Prepare and submit accurate price forecasting for the allocated materials to the regions
• Maintaining overview on the portfolios in terms of commercial conditions, applications, specifications, on a global level to enable day-to-day portfolio management
• Source new items to support the new product development process in the respective portfolio
• Ensure consistent approach to suppliers and build up and maintain relationships in line the procurement strategy
