Assistant Procurement Manager, Marketing Procurement

Background information

You are accountable for the implementation of one or more sub-portfolio sourcing strategies in Benelux region, as well as supporting the Marketing Procurement Manager in developing strategic transformational projects across the wider EU region. You maintain in scope sub-portfolio management and sourcing activities on a day-to-day basis. You execute standardized strategic sourcing processes for assigned sub-portfolios and creates the conditions for continued delivery of set targets (savings, supplier reduction, SKU complexity reduction, service delivery etc.) You build and maintain strong working relationships with Business Partner Teams and user communities in the Business Units, and with key suppliers in the sub-portfolios.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

General:
• Acts as an active part of the Marketing Procurement team to keep all colleagues updated about target delivery of the sub-portfolio’s in charge,
• Triggers additional saving opportunities proactively and works with the Cluster Procurement Teams for OTIF (on time in full delivery) delivery,
• Supports the yearly contracting process for relevant suppliers,
• Supports in contract creation (Unilever purchase agreement, commercial terms & conditions) when necessary,
• Updates the ISIS system with all saving relevant activities.
Portfolio Sourcing:
• Supports the Marketing Procurement Manager in regional project initiatives such as portfolio  centralization and harmonization initiatives,
• Become the source of expert knowledge, and in conjunction with line manager, establish agreed strategies for all assigned sub-portfolios,
• Supports a tendering process to find the best partner for a long term relationship, 
• Understand regulatory and legal issues in the supply area,
• Prepare rigorously for interactions and management of negotiation with external suppliers leading the involvement of appropriate functional and operational teams within the business as required 
• Formalise the relationship and negotiation results with deploying Unilever Marketing & Business Services (MBS) Purchasing Agreements and Contracts, using standard contracts where possible,
• Develop jointly agreed performance measurement framework with key suppliers including service level agreements and non-performance penalties,
• Ensure continuous performance monitoring of suppliers.
Supplier Management
• Identify, select and manage key suppliers for continuous improvement through rigorous cost and value analysis,
• Ensure the effective implementation of awarded supplier, whether directly or through colleagues working in Cluster to ensure supplier switch outs and/or new contractual terms are deployed effectively, 
• Build liaison points with key suppliers within remit of the team and be involved in business critical discussions with them if required,
• Engage with key functional business partners in enabling ongoing supplier relationship management, monitoring, review and continuous improvement.
 
Challenges: 
 
• This is a transformation role. Establishing effective relationships with the internal customers and stakeholders, in cluster procurement teams, and user base business functions is key to delivering change, 
• Working across organizational and cultural boundaries without direct hierarchical control of resources, 
• Working within the current organizational complexity, with limited process commonality and uniformity of data.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualification
• Procurement professional
• Strong analytical and numeracy skills
• Strong communicator in a virtual team environment and also with senior management
• Business English in verbal and written
• Knowledge of procurement and finance systems (Ariba, SAP)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
 
 

ESSENTIAL
• 2-4 Years Procurement,
• Working in complex, cross-functional teams,
• Strong operational IT-system knowledge (Excel, SAP, Powerpoint, ISIS)
 

PREFERRED 
• Experienced in project management across multiple countries,
• Commercial experience with Knowledge of Marketing related spend categories,
• Procurement experience in Point of Sale Materials and Customer Packaging is a strong plus.…
