Your job as Java Backend Developer

The Open team is responsible for all generic functionalities within the open environment of KPN.com. The Open team is a mature SCRUM team in Amsterdam where fun and professionalism is combined and personal development is highly valued. We are looking for a Backend Developer that is up for a challenge.

As a You will be responsible for:

  • All innovation in the open environment on KPN.com and the full development process in a DevOps philosophy
  • Working closely with the Product Owner(s), UX and Tech Leads to define and refine user stories;
  • Refining, optimizing and automating the software development process.
  • Review code and improve code quality.
  • Optimizing and speeding up the internal (automated) build and deployment processes.


What do we expect from you?

You must be an all-round skilled Java developer with experience in building high traffic websites. You have knowledge about:

  • Development: Java Enterprise Edition, HTTP/REST, Java SE (1.7+),  Databases, queries, Apache Tomcat 7, Git, Stash, HTML5, CSS3.0, Bootstrap
  • Building & Deployment: Maven, Jenkins, XLdeploy, Salt, Vagrant, VirtualBox
  • Capabilities: Teamplayer, self-organizing, pro-acitve, Scrum experience and fun
  • Pre: CMS experience preferably GX webmanager 10

 Who are we?

S&I Digital Online is the department within Simplification & Innovation unit (S&I) where all innovation for the Online surroundings (web & app) of KPN happens. The ambition of S&I Digital is make KPN a simplified company, ready for the digital world. The department Online plays a key role in this. We reach this goal through innovating from client needs, keeping things very simple and delivering on a short cycle basis (via Agile/SCRUM). For the online channels we make things possible for the clients of KPN, from online choosing and comparing, buying, checking the order status to managing the services. We do this with 10 SCRUM teams which are responsible for their own focus area.
