Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
As a Technical Program Manager, Peering, you will play a pivotal role in driving Internet peering at Google. You will analyze network traffic data reports to identify where Internet traffic is destined or sourced, and will work closely with internal and external provisioning teams to ensure that peering connections are upgraded in a timely and effective manner. You have working knowledge of both the technical and commercial aspects of Internet networks, strong numerical analysis skills, and understand how to manage technical projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to deliver new interconnect capacity for Google.
- Develop interconnect capacity plans to enable effective, efficient and scalable delivery of Google content to users.
- Analyze network performance and traffic data, and use this analysis to contribute to long term network planning.
- Collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams including business development, legal, and deployment, to successful implement these plans.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in Telecommunications.
- Master's degree or MBA.
- Experience working in an IP network planning or implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, carrier or CDN.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization abilities; an excellent attention to detail.
- International experience; fluent in English, additional languages.
- Willing to travel.
