Summary of the role
We are currently looking for a Rate Specialist.
This role will support the creation and maintenance of specialist pricing for the Firm's Global Strategic Clients in our Firm's financial systems. The work will require the ability to accurately understand and translate pricing agreements in various formats into a specific and specified format, which will then be uploaded into the Firm's financial systems.
The Rate Specialist will need to establish regular communication billing teams across the Clifford Chance Network to provide them with key information regarding specialist pricng and to provide necessary guidance in evaluating whether specialist pricing is required for other clients of the firm and answering questions and providing relevant information to facilitate that local offices are able to set up specialist pricing for any local strategic clients where it is advisable to do so.
As the role is newly created, it will be necessary to work together with the Strategic Pricing and Analysis Manager to develop accurate reporting ensuring that our Global Strategic clients agreements are applied in a consistent and accurate manner.
The jobholder will work closely with the Strategic Pricing and Analysis Team in the London office, local billing teams across the Clifford Chance network and Client Development Managers within our Business Services Department.

Key Responsibilities
- The creation, maintenance and amendment of specialist rates for the Firm's global strategic clients involving the translation of client pricing agreements into the required formats for upload into the Firm's financial systems – this will involve working closely with the Strategic Pricing and Analysis (SP&A) Manager / CDM to fully understand the intricacies of each client rate agreement.
- The monitoring of specialist rates in the Firm's financial systems, ensuring that appropriate governance and controls are adhered to
- Reporting on the application of specialist rates
- Engage with SP&A Manager and the relationship team (partners/CDMs) in advance of pricing, review or renewal and to provide feedback for consideration for future pricing discussions
- Assist the SP&A Manager in the creation of consistent rate cards for client agreements held on the Firm's Client Terms & Pricing Database
- Address queries from the global network of billers on the client agreements for global strategic clients specifically in relation to specialist rates and their application
- Provide guidance and advice on how to establish local rate sets (non-global strategic clients clients)
- Assist the SP&A Manager as required
- Bachelors degree in Finance and/ or 1-2 years experience as a business analyst or pricing specialist or equivalent role, preferably within a professional services industry;
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and organize large amounts of data and a strong working knowledge of financial processes;
- Fluent English (written and spoken), note Dutch is not required for this role;
- Must be detail oriented, demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and the ability to get the job done in a timely manner;
- Proficiency with MS-Office suite of applications (e.g. Excel, Word). Proficiency with Oracle would be beneficial;
- Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution and the ability to establish constructive working relationships with stakeholders at all seniority levels;
- Drive for Continuous improvement;
- Must be able to work autonomously (reporting line being in London).
