The Developer Relations organization helps keep us connected to the communities that love technology as much as we do. Our focus is on supporting third party developers who build applications and businesses on Google's platforms. Developer Advocates act as passionate evangelists for Google technologies, and are vocal champions for developer interests within Google. This is a position for engineers who love connecting with developers and speaking publicly about cutting-edge technologies on conference panels, at user groups, on blogs and with the press. You also communicate internally with Product Managers. Your work fosters a community of developers working with Google technologies and helps to drive strategy around Developer Relations.

Responsibilities

  • Create momentum and drive the success of Google’s developer products, and the open web through your interactions with third-party developers building applications and businesses on them.
  • Advocate the adoption of Google developer products to strategic partners and the broader developer community.
  • Participate in technical and design discussions with technical executives at strategic partners to speed adoption and ensure best practices during implementation.
  • Advocate our developer products in person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials and other similar activities.

Minimum qualifications

  • Relevant work experience as a software developer, architect, technology advocate, CTO, or consultant working with web or mobile technologies.
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET, JavaScript.
  • Experience blogging and writing technical articles.

Preferred qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
  • Experience working directly with large partners, or with press and bloggers.
  • Experience presenting to large technical audiences.
  • Excellent public speaking skills, with experience presenting to large technical audiences.
  • Existing follower base for blogs and technical articles about the mobile app and web application landscapes
  • Strong command of web application or mobile application development landscapes.
