Wie zijn wij
DSM is a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials. By connecting our unique competences in Life Sciences and Materials Sciences we are driving economic prosperity, environmental progress and social advances to create sustainable value for all stakeholders. We deliver innovative solutions that nourish, protect and improve performance in global markets such as food and dietary supplements, personal care, feed, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automotive, paints, electrical and electronics, life protection, alternative energy and bio-based materials.
DSM has annual net sales of around € 9 billion. Our company is headquartered in the Netherlands, and we employ approximately 22,000 people across the globe.
Every day thousands of people at DSM use their expertise to improve peoples’ lives in ways big and small. Take the Rapidase® smart enzyme we have developed, which turns more of an apple into apple juice (and cuts CO2 emissions). Look at our work on environmentally friendly composite resins that could revolutionize the way bridges are built. Or our breakthroughs in bio-conversion technology that are spurring the development of second-generation biofuels.
What makes DSM different? Our business demands innovation, which means that our doors – and our minds – are wide open. We’re proud of the fact that we stimulate people to decide for themselves what career path they want to take. Then we encourage them to keep on developing their skills and knowledge. We need people who can find different ways of adding value and contributing. Most importantly, we want original thinkers who will challenge us, stretch us and move us forward.
There is no single, linear career path at DSM – in fact, unusual career paths and ‘cross-pollination’ are encouraged. In line with our strategy of aggressive global expansion, we offer increasing opportunities to live and work overseas, particularly outside of Western Europe. In fact, we have more than 200 sites and offices in more than 50 countries on five continents. And although we’re headquartered in the Netherlands, our working language is English.
We’re an established, ambitious and growing company. What about you? Do you: See your work in the context of society and the planet at large? Have creative ideas that can be turned into practical applications? Adapt quickly to the changing world around us? Challenge conventional thinking in an open and collaborative way? If the answers to these questions is yes, then it’s time to get in touch with DSM.
Internships are important to us and we take our interns very seriously. A DSM internship gives you a superb window into our company, and offers us a great way of assessing where you could fit into our organization.
Have you ever wondered what the world of work offers? Take an internship with DSM and we promise you, it will be much more than a rehearsal – you will be doing the real thing. As you’d expect, we offer a broad range of internships for all types of graduates and non-graduates, and we even have a new, improved MBA program. Generally speaking, our internships last three to six months, and you could be working anywhere.
Any intern that comes to work for us should be genuinely interested in what we do and who we are. We produce products that help people and the world. We’re all about sustainability and innovation. So it should come as no surprise that we expect you to be creative, and to care about the planet and what goes on in the world. And, of course, to perform to the best of your ability.
We will take you and your ideas seriously, and we’re going to offer you a chance to really improve your skills. We’ll be upfront, with an open-door policy, and we’ll help you discover and demonstrate your talents. You’ll have a chance to learn from the best people, and you’ll also be exposed to a number of career opportunities. Who knows? It may be the start of a beautiful career.
We offer internships in almost all disciplines within DSM, including non-academic ones: Human Resource Management, ICT, Manufacturing and Technology, Finance & Control, Demand and Supply Chain Management, Marketing and Sales and Research and Development.
