What Are You Going to Do
As a Tower Crane Operator, you work closely with the Crane Supervisor and carry out lifting work for the most beautiful (large-scale) construction and infrastructure projects throughout the Netherlands. Safety and accuracy are a matter of course for you. You consult a lot with the contractor, crane supervisor and other construction site workers. You can trust them blindly and they trust you.
Curious about which beautiful cranes you will be operating? We use, among others, Spiering, Potain, Liebherr, Wolff and Terex etc.
Your activities in brief
- Moving loads safely on the construction site;
- Consultation with your colleagues on the construction site;
- Solving minor malfunctions and other minor maintenance of your crane;
- Helping with the (dis)assembly of the crane;
- Keeping the workplace tidy and completing the 4-weekly inspection list.
What Do You Bring
- You have at least 5-7 years of work experience as a Tower Crane Operator, but you can also respond without experience;
- You have your TCVT W406 certificate. or are willing to obtain it at our expense;
- You have a flexible attitude: it sometimes happens that you have to work in the evening or at the weekend. And you are willing to work on different types of cranes.;
- You speak fluent Dutch and preferably live in the Randstad.

Ballast Nedam Materieel is a pleasant club of around 140 colleagues and is part of the Ballast Nedam Groep. We supply all possible equipment for construction projects to Ballast Nedam-related entities, mainly nationally, but also internationally. We do this from construction projects throughout the Netherlands and our locations in Almere, Maarssen and Sittard. We have an informal atmosphere and are comparable to a family business.

Het sollicitatieproces bij Ballast Nedam is doorgaans gestructureerd en persoonlijk. Na het insturen van je sollicitatie via de website of via een referral volgt vaak een telefonische kennismaking met een recruiter. Daarna kun je één of twee gesprekken verwachten met je toekomstige teamleider of collega's. Soms is er een assessment of meeloopdag, afhankelijk van de functie. Ballast Nedam hecht waarde aan een goede culturele match en kijkt verder dan je cv.
Als starter werk je meestal in een projectteam, bijvoorbeeld op een bouwlocatie of op een regiokantoor. De week bestaat vaak uit een combinatie van overlegmomenten, technische voorbereiding, contact met leveranciers of onderaannemers, en het actief meewerken aan de uitvoering van het project. Je werkt nauw samen met ervaren collega's, krijgt verantwoordelijkheid en wordt betrokken bij concrete bouwfasen of engineeringsvraagstukken.
Ballast Nedam biedt starters duidelijke groeipaden, afhankelijk van je rol en ambitie. Denk aan doorgroeien van werkvoorbereider naar projectleider, of van uitvoerder naar hoofduitvoerder. Ook zijn er specialisatietrajecten (bijvoorbeeld richting calculatie, inkoop of duurzaamheid) en is het mogelijk om over te stappen naar andere werkmaatschappijen binnen het concern. De bedrijfscultuur is gericht op eigenaarschap en ontwikkeling.
Ballast Nedam heeft diverse opleidingsmogelijkheden, zowel intern als extern. Er zijn ontwikkeltrajecten voor starters zoals traineeships of vakinhoudelijke leerlijnen. Ook krijg je toegang tot cursussen op het gebied van veiligheid, projectmanagement, software en leiderschap. Coaching-on-the-job is gebruikelijk en je wordt gestimuleerd om je eigen ontwikkelplan vorm te geven.
Hoewel salarissen kunnen variëren per functie en regio, ligt het startsalaris voor mbo'ers doorgaans tussen de €2.400 en €2.800 bruto per maand, en voor hbo'ers rond de €2.800 tot €3.200. Jaarlijkse groei is gebruikelijk op basis van functioneren en cao-afspraken. Er zijn ook vaak secundaire arbeidsvoorwaarden zoals een leaseauto of reiskostenvergoeding, pensioenregeling en bonussen.
Er is bij Ballast Nedam veel aandacht voor de balans tussen werk en privé. Thuiswerken is in sommige functies mogelijk, vooral in ondersteunende of engineeringsrollen. Op de bouwplaats gelden natuurlijk andere werktijden, maar ook daar is begrip voor persoonlijke omstandigheden. Overuren worden overlegd en gecompenseerd, en rustmomenten worden gestimuleerd.
Ballast Nedam is onderdeel van het internationale concern Rönesans Holding, waardoor er mogelijkheden zijn om internationaal ervaring op te doen – bijvoorbeeld bij projecten in het buitenland of via samenwerking met buitenlandse dochterondernemingen. Dit gebeurt niet standaard, maar als je de ambitie hebt, kun je dit bespreekbaar maken en mogelijk realiseren binnen je loopbaan.
