The traineeship

Join Shell's Graduate Programme in Contracting & Procurement (CP) and we'll offer you a wide range of growth and leadership opportunities. These include learning how to conduct procurement activities around the globe and gaining a strategic view of our work. You'll also have the chance to improve your commercial acumen and develop your project management skills.

We'll never tell you which direction we think you should pursue. We prefer to let you drive your career and choose the roles you take. But we'll always provide you with the networking opportunities, direction and training you'll need. To give you an idea of where you might work, most of our graduates start in one of the following roles:

Procurement Executive, Advisor or Analyst
Contracts Advisor or Analyst
Planning & Performance Analyst
Process Analyst
Strategic Buyer

You'll do a real job from your first day with Shell, applying creative problem solving skills, lateral thinking and persistence as you make a real contribution to the energy business. And we'll be with you every step of the way with flexible development programmes. Dedicated mentors will provide you with guidance for your first three years. And workshops will give you the chance to network and learn more about our businesses.

On-the-job learning and formal training range from an introduction to the Shell's business principles to negotiation skills. You'll also undertake personal and leadership development opportunities and be given your own Individual Development Plan. This will help you build on your abilities and increase your performance.

To improve your overall CP skills, we've partnered with Accenture to offer you the chance to take dedicated classes through the on-line Supply Chain Academy. You'll also be encouraged to gain professional certification through the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

The profile

Master degree in any Commercial Discipline, Law, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, Business or Marketing. Strong interpersonal, influencing & stakeholder management skills & ability to communicate with all levels of professionals and managers. Ability to plan and execute work plans within tight time constraints is essential.
